Air Power – An RAAF C 17 Globemaster carrying two 20 tonne generators lands at Hobart Airport, as the ADF continues its support in the wake of the Tasmanian bushfires.  Mid Caption: The Australian Defence Force (ADF)  supported an Emergency Management Australia request on behalf of the Government of Tasmania to transport two 20-tonne mobile diesel powered generators and transformers to Tasmania in the wake of the bushfires.   Two Royal Australian Air Force C-17A Globemaster aircraft and their specialist personnel departed RAAF Base Amberley on 11th January 2013 for the two and a half hour flight  to Hobart..   The Royal Australian Air Force  has  six C-17A Globemaster heavy transport aircraft which are operated by No 36 Squadron from RAAF Base Amberley, near Brisbane.   The C-17A is a high-wing four-engine heavy transport that significantly enhances the ADF’s ability to support national and international operations, and major disaster relief efforts.
