Woomera welcomed hundreds of non-Defence users of the 124,000sqkm test range (about the size of England) on December 3 in support of the final Woomera Prohibited Area Advisory Board meeting for 2013.

Pastoralists, school children, Woomera township residents, miners and their explorers, rail and other transport companies as well as Defence contractors were taken on a trip through time for a look at the history of the world's largest land-based test facility, which saw Australia enter space and the history books, becoming the fourth nation to successfully launch a satellite.

The crowds were treated to an aerial display of some of the Air Force aircraft that regularly conduct critical defence testing on the Woomera Test Range as well as Army's 1CER soldiers displaying counter-IED capabilities.
