Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Angus Campbell, DSC, AM, visited the Middle East region in March 2017. The visit included Operations ACCORDION, OKRA and HIGHROAD, as well as key leadership engagements.

Around 1700 ADF members are currently deployed on the four main operations; ACCORDION, OKRA, HIGHROAD and MANITOU. Operation ACCORDION sustains and supports ADF operations in the Middle East region.

Operation OKRA is the ADF’s contribution to the international effort to combat the Daesh terrorist threat in Iraq and Syria. It includes Task Group Taji 4, a Special Operations Task Group and an Air Task Group.

Operation HIGHROAD has about 270 personnel from the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army, the Royal Australian Air Force and Defence civilians deployed as part of Australia’s commitment to the NATO led Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan.
