The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) joined the United States Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), Japan Air Self-Defense Force (Kokujieitai) and, for the first time, Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), for the world’s longest running humanitarian airdrop mission, Operation Christmas Drop 19 (OCD19) from 04-14 December 2019, .

Launching from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, C-130 Hercules aircraft from all four countries provided critical supplies by parachute to 55 Micronesian Islands including 20,000 people covering 1.8 million square nautical miles of operating area. The donated goods included non-perishable food, toys, fishing equipment, and clothing. The operation began in 1952 (and continues) out of a spirit of goodwill, and allows participant nations to plan and carry out airdrop missions to unfamiliar and dynamic drop zones.
